Buttock lift
INTRODUCTION TO
Buttock lift
A belt lipectomy, also known as a buttock lift, is used to remove or minimize excess skin from the buttocks and thighs that have sagged due to gravity, aging, heredity, or weight loss. After a buttock lift, the skin surrounding the buttocks is elevated and tightened, making them appear less drooping, dimpled, or wrinkled.
This procedure requires surgical excision and, occasionally, liposuction to remove skin and fat, in contrast to a “Brazilian buttock lift,” which enhances volume through fat transfer.
There are several benefits to a buttock lift, including but not limited to:
- Improvement of the buttock’s skin elasticity, lost as a result of extreme weight loss
- or age
- Obtaining a more balanced physique
- Tightening of crinkled and dimpled thighs, as a consequence of inactivity or
- cellulite.
- Improvement of self-image and self-confidence
- Creating a more effervescent or curvy appearance
Consultation
During the consultation, the doctor will ask several questions, relating to your medical history. Allergies, conditions, prior procedures, treatments, and overall health will all be taken into account. This will also help to evaluate risk factors. Non-smokers, in good overall health and shape, are the most ideal candidates.
Afterward, the doctor will:
- perform a physical examination
- arrange a blood test
- take measurements
- discuss with you your buttock lift choices, the expected result, and any potential
- complications that might arise (depending on your patient profile).
It is imperative that for approximately two weeks before the surgery, you stop smoking, don’t experience significant weight loss, and avoid anti-inflammatory drugs, as they might increase bleeding.
Procedure
Buttock lift surgery is frequently done as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. The surgery can also be carried out as a circumferential abdominoplasty and combined with a body lift, or a Brazilian Buttock Lift (to increase volume through fat transfer). Without these additional procedures, a standard buttocks lift lasts typically between 2 and 3 hours.
Incisions will be made at the top of the buttocks, in the hips, the groin, or under the buttock cheeks by your surgeon. Excess skin will be removed, and the remaining skin will be pulled tight. To further shape the thighs or buttock region and create a balanced appearance, the surgeon may utilize liposuction.
Your wounds are stitched and closed by the surgeon in layers to keep the skin taut. Last but not least, he will apply dressings and drains to get rid of fluid that collects beneath the skin.
After some time in our recovery room, and care provided by our medical professionals, you will be able to return home on the same day. It is advised that you have someone who can take you back to your residence, and help with your recovery at least for the following day.
Even though the effects of a buttock lift procedure are nearly immediately apparent, it could take several months for your final results to fully materialize. A buttock lift will make your buttocks appear sleeker and more toned, but it won’t add volume or shape to them.
Recovery
You’ll start wearing a supporting garment for the following several weeks a few days after the procedure. This will support you as you recuperate and aid in preventing fluid buildup.
You might feel mild to severe pain or discomfort, which your plastic surgeon can help you manage with prescription drugs. There could be significant bruising as well as swelling. Normal buttock lift recovery times range from four to six months while bruising and swelling often go away in two to three weeks.
You shouldn’t engage in any intense activity or exercise for up to three months after surgery and refrain from smoking, lifting weights, and exercising for the first 3 to 4 weeks.
Given that recovery time varies from patient to patient, your surgeon will be able to provide you with a complete recovery plan with more specific timetables.

Every surgical procedure carries some risk. Following are a few possible surgical problems that could occur:
- Loss of sensation
- Scarring
- Bleeding
- Infection
